The Plan

The Barcelona Interculturality Plan sets forth a strategy aimed at establishing an understanding of and an approach to coexistence in diversity. This is a strategy led by the municipal government in which over 4,000 people and 250 entities have collaborated.

The Plan identifies 10 strategic linchpins, 30 goals and 90 measures. A task that will have a transversal affect on all areas of the City Council, insofar as it is necessary that all policies, programs and services (from education or culture to urbanism or economic promotion) incorporate this intercultural focus. The Barcelona Interculturality Plan has defined interaction as the heart of the intercultural project for our city, the central hub of our strategic commitment and the key element in the coordination of measures and actions. The interaction takes place in the city, and it is from the perspective of the city that it makes sense to place it in the centre of the intercultural strategy.
